Not the lottery winner...
My wife always buys lottery tickets when the prize gets way up there.  This time I got to thinking about what I would do if we won.  I wouldn't quit my job...yet.  I would wait until somebody pissed me off or told me to do something I didn't want to do.  I would probably be looking for that something though.  I would go to school but not for anything to do for a living, just for fun (art, etc.).  I would give some away (with 350 mil I could spare a little).  A couple million to family would hardly be missed.  Maybe I would feed all of those children so they wouldn't be on late night cable.  Some charities would benefit.  Though I would have to feel sure the majority of the money would go to the needy.  However, I didn't win so that's all just a pipe dream.  Maybe next time it gets up there. Where is the American Automaker?
Tags: hybrid car
America needs to catch up.  I'm thinking about buying a new car and I want a hybrid.  While I would like to say it's for the enviorment the truth is the only enviorment I'm interested in is in my wallet.  With the tax break for such cars I come out about even on the cost compared to a regular engine and the gas savings make it more economical.  My problem, finding a well made American hybrid car.  Not a less gas guzzeling than normal SUV, a car.  I would prefer to buy American.  I don't want to wait a year or two for the expected release date.  My wife has a Toyota Prius and pays about $15 every two weeks or so for gas compared to about $30 a week for my regular engine.  I'm leaning towards the Honda Civic Hybrid right now (I don't want a Prius because my wife has one and the Honda Insight is plain ugly) with my only real other choice right now being the Honda Accord Hybrid.  Civic did better in reveiws, has better milage 50/50 to 30/37 (30/37 and thats a Hybrid?) and costs less (21 grand compared to 30 grand).  The end result of this blog, I'll probably be getting a Civic.  American cars need to catch up.

I recently encountered someone who equated not liking Bush as anti-patriotic and not supporting our troops.  I have real trouble with this attitude because I believe in what this country stands for.  Freedom.  Freedom to say what you want about whatever you want (short of threats or harrassment) . Freedom to draw a cartoon about somebody's religious beliefs.  Freedom to shout the most hated and despised beliefs at the top of your lungs ( provided it's not too late, there are anti noise laws) . Yes, even the freedom to badmouth the president.  And unfortunately, freedom to connect badmouthing somebody who say's that most of our imports come from other countries with  anti-patriotism and being against our troops.  But hearing him on his soapbox made me want to get one of my own.  He would not listen to the obvious arguments (at least obvious to me if not him) that someone can back our troops even if we don't agree with the man who sent them there.  Or that Bush is not the embodiment of America and therefore it has nothing to do with patriotism to not like him.  I cannot bring myself to support somebody who hid from war in the reserves (and didn't even complete his "tour of duty" ) and then turns around and sends reserves to fight in his war.  He is the definition of the song "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. Smiley  Smiley Smiley  Smiley  Plus he is so stupid (I say this only because they can make a 365 Bushism a day calander with the things he has said proving it so) .

Well I have purged my riteous indignation about the person I encountered and will get down off my soapbox Smiley.

Never have the time...

It's a long time no blog for me.  I just never seem to have the time.  I have my family who are always demanding my time.  Don't take that the wrong way, I like to spend time with them and often do.  But if I'm with my wife then my daughter will want me to come play with, color with, or help her or vice-versa (my wife usually won't want me to color with her.)  This takes up a very large part of my day.  It's usually 10 o'clock before I have some time that is just mine.  Then I have a variety of things pulling me, books to read, a X-box 360 to play, or just vegging out in front of the TV with something besides Dora the Explorer on.  Then there's my job which despite the fact that I work only three days a week seems to take up 5.  A day of preparation and a day of recovery.  5th shift is not fun but I get to be with my daughter all week.  One bright spot at work is that the brown noser of our shift is going to first shift.  He even stated that he wanted to because it's a better place to kiss butt, though not in those words.  I've always had a pet peeve about brown nosers.  The bad part about him leaving is that I'll have to do a lot of the jobs he does on our shift.  It's worth it.  He has been quoted saying, "I'll step on whoever I have to to get ahead."  While looking out for number one might be important I don't believe in stepping on the other guy to do so. enough about work.

My daughter's speech classes are going good.  We have also found out her left ear definately has problems.  This week we go to an audioligist and hopefully will find out some options for it.  She got sick this weekend and threw up for the first time.  At 2 am it was a rude awakening for her and my wife (I was at work).  She's feeling better but still sick.

My wife's Japanese classes aren't going as good.  She has decided to hold off on them for now.  What with work and family she had trouble finding the time.

Like I said I got a 360.  My wife went on release day and waited from about 2 pm till 5 pm them I took over and waited until about 8 or 9 when she came back and finished the wait.  She got home about 2 am.  It was my birthday/Christmas present.  That's something I've dealt with my whole life, Birthday/Christmas presents.  To make matters worse my brother was born the day after me (2 years before) so we had combined birthday parties.  Hey, there's 2 of us!  Where's the second cake!

Well, I have a sick girl to tend to. Adios.
